Bloodwood is a satinwood species. Hard Central/South American wood that turns a beautiful blood-red color due to the influence of light. Bloodwood is hard and can be worked very nicely (even to a high gloss) with sharp tools. This type of wood is used for works of art, knife handles, bows and also for musical instruments/guitar making.

Satinwood species are considered to be among the most beautiful wood species in the world and are mainly used for very luxurious applications. The West Indian satinwood has a softly sweet coconut scent that is especially noticeable during processing.
