Mahogany is a beautiful, solid, soft, tough, moderately strong wood. The heartwood is salmon-colored, pink, red to red-brown, coloring to deep red or brown with a golden glow. Processed dry mahogany has a light pink color, which quickly discolors to a beautiful reddish brown under the influence of light. The sapwood is white to yellow.
