Beech has a regular and dense structure. The heartwood is whitish to light brown to light yellow brown. Steamed beech is pink to light red. Steamed wood has advantages such as reduced internal stresses. Beech often has irregularly shaped red heartwood. There is no clear color difference between sapwood and heartwood.
