Mahogany is a beautiful, firm, soft, tough, and moderately strong wood. The heartwood is salmon-colored, pink, red to reddish-brown, maturing to deep red or brown with a golden sheen. Processed, dry mahogany has a light pink color, which quickly fades to a beautiful reddish-brown under the influence of light. The sapwood is white to yellow.
